About Larry King

A brief history of Larry...

Born Lawrence Harvey Zeiger on November 19, 1933 in Brooklyn, N.Y.,  Larry changed his name to Larry King when he started his broadcast career.

Celebrities, politicians, athletes and newsmakers from around the planet have experienced Larry King’s unique disarming interview style and come to trust him as a friend and talented professional.

He is best known for his TV interview and phone-in talk show, “Larry King Live” on CNN, which he hosted nightly from 1985 to 2010.

From JFK and Vladimir Putin, to the Dalai Lama and Lady Gaga,  anyone having an impact on the world has sat across the desk from Larry King.

Among his many accomplishments are numerous awards and recognitions from the broadcasting  & media industries including:

Peabody Award

Cable Ace Awards

Inductions into the National Radio Hall of Fame and Broadcasters Hall of Fame

An Honorary Doctorate Degree…… and the list goes on

Larry is a multi-book author and the major fundraiser for The Larry King Cardiac Foundation, a cause stemming from his own heart problems earlier in life.

When he’s not hard at work you might see him at a baseball game, either calling it or watching from the stands. He has had a lifelong obsession for the sport (beginning with the Brooklyn Dodgers).
